Cathal Prior LUTON, England — It is with deep sadness that the family and community announce the passing of Cathal Prior, who died peacefully at the L&D Hospital on 8th January 2026.
Born in Corlough, County Cavan, Ireland, in 1940, Cathal moved to Luton in 1960, where he made the town his home for more than six decades. A proud Irishman, he was deeply committed to his community and was widely respected for his warmth, generosity, and steadfast dedication to others.
Cathal was heavily involved with St Vincent’s GFC, contributing his time, energy, and heart to the club over many years. His commitment to the sport and the community left a lasting impression on teammates, friends, and fellow supporters alike. He was known not only for his loyalty to the club but also for the kindness and encouragement he extended to everyone around him.
Cathal’s Funeral Mass will be held at The Holy Family Church, Luton, on Thursday, 5th February, at 1 p.m., where family, friends, and members of the wider community will gather to celebrate his life and legacy.
He will be remembered as a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a cherished member of the Irish community in Luton. Cathal Prior’s life was marked by generosity, devotion, and a profound sense of community, leaving behind memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
