Dr. Thuong Tran Death – The medical and academic communities are mourning the loss of Dr. Thuong Tran, DNAP, CRNA, who passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of clinical excellence, mentorship, and service to others.
Dr. Tran was a 2025 graduate of the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California Nurse Anesthesia Program, where he distinguished himself as both a scholar and a compassionate clinician. During his training, he was recognized with the USC Agatha Hodgins Award for Clinical Achievement and was also a Scholarship Award Recipient, honors that reflected his commitment to the highest standards of patient care and academic performance.
Before entering the nurse anesthesia program, Dr. Tran worked as an ICU registered nurse. In 2021, he attended a Diversity CRNA Event as a prospective applicant, an experience that would later shape his dedication to mentorship and professional outreach.
In the years that followed, Dr. Tran became a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion within the field of nurse anesthesia. He selflessly dedicated his personal time to mentoring aspiring CRNAs, offering guidance and encouragement to those navigating the same path he once traveled. Most recently, in April 2025, he served as a mentor at the Diversity CRNA Event at the Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia, continuing his commitment to supporting future clinicians.
Colleagues and students remember Dr. Tran as driven, humble, and deeply compassionate — a professional who not only excelled in his own career but actively worked to elevate others.
